Reformed pastor Zoltán Balog warned that the memory of what happened on June 4, 1920, teaches repentance, solidarity and gratitude.
At the Mass, László Kiss-Rigó emphasized that this day is also a baptism, as from this day their county is called Csongrád-Csanád. Member of Parliament János Lázár, the proponent of the name change, was also present at the liturgy.
In his sermon, the chief pastor said that the gate in Dóm Square is also reminiscent of the peace dictatorship: one of the loopholes at the entrance to the square has been called the Trianon Gate since 1930. This gate is closed on one day each year, June 4th. According to László Kiss-Rigó, many times we find ourselves facing closed gates when we move forward unbroken for a good goal.
We know that if God closes one door before us, He will open another. To put it a little harder: God sometimes slaps us well and shows us the right direction. Trianon was such a slap. But it has also given us new opportunities, so we have to give thanks. We are grateful that we have survived and that we are here in complete freedom, and that we can enrich and serve national cohesion that knows no borders, ”the bishop said.
Zoltán Balog, a Reformed pastor and president of the Foundation for Civil Hungary, emphasized that the memory of what happened on June 4, 1920, teaches repentance, solidarity and gratitude.
He warns us that we should live differently and be born again, get rid of false snakes, while we cannot give up hope and love, added Zoltán Balog. - We do not give up construction, language, faith, the future, culture, ourselves and each other.
