Three Seas conference at Gál Ferenc College

An international conference with the participation of ambassadors, politicians and politologists was held at Gál Ferenc College on 17th November in the Klebelsberg room of the College. The event was organized by the Consulate of Poland in Szeged, the Szeged-Csanád Diocese, the Polish-Hungarian Cultural Association and the Csongrád County Archives. It bore the title: ”Encounter of worlds, clashing of cultures, the existential rightfulness of the Eastern-Central-European values in Europe. The concept of Three Seas as the new dimension of regional cooperation.”

The conference was opened by the greeting words of Karol Biernacki, the honorary consul of Poland in Szeged, and rector of Gál Ferenc College, Gábor Kozma. The event was moderated by Attila Szalai, former ambassador of Hungary in Warsaw. Speakers included Zbigniew Krsyiak, head of Schuman Institute in Warsaw, Marius Lazurca, ambassador of Romania in Budapest, Ádám Szesztay of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian Government and Miháhy Rigó, engineer. Zbigniew Krysiak pointed out the difference between the values of present day Europe and the ideology of Robert Schuman. Marius Lazurca outlined the Romanian standpoint on the Three Seas concept whereas Ádám Szesztay highlighted the openness of the Hungarian government towards the cooperation initiated by Poland and Croatia. Mihály Rigó closed the session by giving a talk on the room for development of road infrastructure in the region. Each talk focused on the necessity of cooperation among the countries in the Eastern-Central European region and further opportunities for the strengthening of relationships were discussed.
