Mayor Mihály Babák began his New Year greetings with a welcome speech from sports leaders this year. For more than twenty years, the program of the Rákóczi Street canteen has opened the city's event calendar, which since 2003 has been supplemented by the award of former eminent athletes.
The city leader likened the relationship between the athlete and the trainer to the eternal hen-egg question, which also cannot be ranked. Yeast has emerged among the metaphors, saying that without sports leaders a department would not be successful and would also make a significant contribution to individual success.
It was also commendable that there is a huge variety of sports in the town, with 22 registered associations currently operating locally.
- One of our great successes last year was the opening of the rink. But we have the karate-fighters who are about to start building an academy. Next Wednesday, I am going to sign an agreement to build a Defense Sports Center, which costs $ 875 million. Soccer players have also been able to get a $ 50 million Company Tax (TAO) to start their development - summarized last year's results.
Among the failures he mentioned was the extension of the Alkotmány Street sports hall, which could not be submitted due to the delayed establishment of the local government. Fortunately, the submission deadline has been extended to the end of January so the project was not lost forever.
Plans include the creation of a cycling and running club, as the settlement's features are excellent for both sports. They have long cherished their dream of renovating the Petőfi Street Sports Hall, but so far they have not been able to reach an agreement with the maintainer Szent István University. In the past, high school students also had to settle with the modernization of institutions, and the construction of a sports hall no longer fit into the budget. I also want to make up for this in the future. In addition, if they succeeded in obtaining funding for the development of Mittrovszky Castle, they would develop a sports center instead of the former pioneer house.
Attila Kiss, chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee, thanked the sports leaders for taking the local sports life to the heart of their time and energy. Like Mihály Babák, he took a short account of the past year, which included kayakers, wrestlers, karates, ice hockey players and handball.
- Youth and sport are not a mandatory municipal task, but the local government of Szarvas has always considered it important. So far, we have spent 5% on this target issue, which we have modified, and this year we will spend 7% of our business tax revenues on this area, he shared the good news with the congregation.
This year, a total of six cups were awarded to former outstanding athletes. László Almási handball player, coach, referee, Éva Bajomi teacher, sports organizer, volleyball player, dr. Charlotte Fest teachers, medical physical education teacher, vice-dean, Francis Odžaci swimming, sport is a leading sporting goods manufacturer, Florian Sava handball, basketball coach, and Michael Szucs kayak, sports leader.
