On the 17th March youngsters and elderly people all around the world remember the Christian missionary and bishop, Saint Patrick. This day is about celebration, cheerfulness and joy.
This was the case at our primary school in Szarvas, too, as our student union organized a diverse program for their fellow students for the fourth time on 18th March.
Early morning green - white - orange balloons, rainbow bridges, green clover garlands, goblins and gold - filled cauldrons awaited the arrivals. Our school community, students and teachers got into the spirit of things by dressing up in all shades of green and adorning themselves with anything Irish.
One of the highlights of the day was the Cake Competition. Every year it’s a very difficult task for the jury to find ’the most delicious’, ’the greenest’, ’the most Irish’ or even ’the best rainbow’ cakes.
In the afternoon our students could take part in a variety of fun-filled activities. They played football matches, searched for hidden treasures, made paper fan shamrocks or badges, solved sudoku puzzles or could show their knowledge about Ireland at the Kahoot Championship.
This day again was a very good example that it’s good to be a kid or an adult at our school.
Our sincere thanks to every adult who supported us, and last but not least to our wonderful students, who made this celebration so cheerful.
