An international conference was organized by the Catechetical Office of Szeged - Csánád Diocese and Gál Ferenc College on 20-21 November 2019 bearing the title ‘European identity in the light of Polish-Hungarian relations for future generations. Transnational and Transgenerational Experiences in Polish Hungarian Youth.’
The conference was attended by six Polish lecturers from the Ignatianum Academy in Cracow and the Pope John Paul II. University. The topics of the lectures covered the historical Polish-Hungarian relations from the Middle Ages to the 20th century and they also highlighted how the joint evaluation of historical experiences can be reflected in the youth pastoral work of ecclesiastical institutions. Accordingly, the presentation of the results of the 2018 Synod on Youth and the comparison of lessons learned from the two countries played an important role in the program.
The conference sought to examine what European and Christian identity means to young people today, and how the results of history can be translated into everyday youth pastoral work when we need to understand the deeper meaning of European Christian identity and then have younger generations understand.
