Gál Ferenc College took part in Canadian higher education fair and conference in Winnipeg

With the support of the Tempus Public Fund, Hungarian higher education institutions participated in an international higher education exhibition organized by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in November 18-21, 2019. Representatives of the Hungarian institutions, including that of Gál Ferenc College, could personally consult with their Canadian and primarily North American colleagues on internationalization opportunities. Unlike last year, this year's event did not have a separate Study in Hungary booth, but representatives could set up meetings with Canadian partners via the conference application.

In parallel to the professional meetings, the lectures were about the most innovative internationalization practices. It was presented that Canada intends to enroll a significant number of students in Europe over the next decade, including  Central Europe. The presentations were attended by Dr. István Thékes, associate professor and secretary for foreign affairs, together with ten Hungarian higher education institutions, including ELTE, Semmelweis University, and the Univ. of Debrecen.

As a result of last year's conference in Canada, cooperation with St. Mary's University in Halifax is now in place. The aim of Gál Ferenc College this year was to organize student mobility in addition to raising awareness of the KA107 and Campus Mundi projects. Through networking programs, GFC showed in recent years new fields of training had been added, including pedagogy, health, social and economics..

At the end of the conference, Dr. István Thékes, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, visited the local University of Winnipeg to discuss possible joint work, and then paid a visit to the local Roman Catholic Church of St. Boniface.
