The Choir of the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga paid a visit at the Faculty of Economics of Gál Ferenc College between 9th and 13th June in Békéscsaba

The choir, mainly composed of students, is taking part in a European tour. They came from Bosnia and Herzegovina and are about to leave for Germany.

The choir, through the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, contacted Antal Szigeti, parish priest, who, under the guidance of the rector of Gál Ferenc College, Dr. Gábor Kozma and colleagues of the Faculty of Economics in Békéscsaba, received the choir. Thanks to the excellent cooperation between the Parish and Gál Ferenc College, a meaningful program for choral members was provided. The accommodation of the group of 30 people was provided for by the college, and parish priest Szigeti organized programs and concerts for them. Thanks go to József Jármi Dormitory Director for his flexible attitude and Dr. Sándor Simon for his cooperation with the parish.

During their stay, the choir was introduced to the main sights of Békéscsaba and spent a pleasant, informal afternoon at the Faculty of Economics. Choral members visited the various campus facilities. In a short presentation, Mónika Csefkó, a teacher of the language institute, introduced the college, the trainings in Békéscsaba and the significant events of student life. As the Faculty of Economics offers a numberof courses in English, it was also a question of how a Colombian student could study in Hungary, even in Békéscsaba, under an international scholarship program. Students from Hungary were represented by Dávid Székely, Chairman of the Student Council.

In the lecture hall of the Faculty of Economics, the choir gave a taste of their repertoire in the form of an improvised rehearsal that impressed the audience.

Rafael Angel Suescun Marino Choral Conductor and his team, and Duvan Reynerio Ocampo Pinzon Colombian Counselor and Embassy Attorney General were received by Ferenc Nagy, Deputy Mayor, at the City Hall. One of the goals of the event was to build a diplomatic relationship.

The choir celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. Over the past few years, they have grown to be one of Colombia's finest mixed choirs, winners of many festivals and competitions. Their current European tour is also highly successful, with several prizes won at the International Choral Competition in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mirko Dusek Award for Best Conductor, Best Performer of Contemporary Pieces, First Prize in Mixed Choir and Grand Prix of Competition was awarded by the jury to the UNAB choir.

Other tasks await the choir, they travel from Békéscsaba to Germany, and then to New York for concerts.

Thanks to everyone who has experienced the unexpected visit of the choir not as a task or a problem, but as an experience and opportunity, and contributed to their successful and enjoyable stay here with their selfless help.
