Twelve local government award was presented by mayor of Gyula, Ernő Görgényi on 15th March in the frame of a local government representative’s board. The award of honorary citizenship of Gyula was presented to the bishop of Szeged-Csanád Diocese László Kiss-Rigó.

Mayor Ernő Görgényi said in his greetings on 15th March that Gyula was one of those Hungarian cities that was dedicated to the concept and principles of the 48/49 revolution and war of freedom. In relation to this, he pointed out that the first such award was given to Lajos Kossuth and the second to Ferenc Erkel.

At first, the mayor congratulated to László Kiss-Rigó, bishop of the Szeged-Csanád Diocese, who was given the award for his role in public education, the upholding of the citiy’s higher education and for the founding of the Grosics Football Academy of European quality.
László Kiss-Rigó highlighted that the much-honored award is another call for the further undertaking of responsibility and obligation.
The event was closed down with the 29th historical concert of Ferenc Erkel Community.
